Story of a man with Down syndrome born in 1945 growing up in rural Alaska as the eldest of 7 children. Jim Haakenson enjoyed a great family life, a job he loved and sadly developed Alzheimer’s disease. His story is told with love and humour and is an interesting read.

The artist's pencil portraits of people with disabilities, many with Down syndrome, have illustrated many books and a wide range of publications.  She has given permission for these works to be used for non-commercial purposes by community groups representing people with disabilities.  The drawings bring their subjects to life, and ability and personality shine through.
