Up, Up and Away Project - Project Staff

 

 

James Vantol (Team Voice)

James is 26 years old and lives in Bexley, Sydney with his family and three dogs!

James loves music and has his own DJ business (for info email sydneycitydiscotheque@hotmail.com). He also works in product distribution for a large confectionery firm. James enjoys using his excellent computer/IT skills on project work also. James has Down syndrome.

James was appointed as Team Voice in July 2006. His role is to represent the views of the participants on the project reference group, assist in facilitation of participant meetings and workshops, edit the newsletter and help present the project to outside agencies.

James lives a full and very independent life and is committed to the principles of the project of full inclusion and wants to see his peers achieving their life goals.

Maria Short (Project Coordinator)

Maria is married with 4 children her 3rd child Jacob has Down syndrome, and is a typical rebellious teenager, who loves his play station, going to the movies, and ten pin bowling. 

Maria has spent many years working as a nurse at the Hills Private Hospital, and as a team coach with the Up Up and Away Project.

Maria has a certificate in Auslan, and signed English,  a Diploma in Community Welfare and is currently studying a Diploma in counselling at Jensen Institute.
